Tesla Makes More Questionable Claims About Its Autonomous People Mover

Tesla is once again making some ambitious claims about its forthcoming Robotaxi autonomous vehicle. The vice president of vehicle engineering, Lars Moravy, said that the driverless two-seater will feature a battery capacity of less than 50 kilowatt-hours – splitting the difference between the 40-kWh Nissan Leaf and the 60-kWh Leaf Plus – but should drive further per charge than either. The Robotaxi's slippery shape and unique engineering lend some credence to Moravy's range claim of nearly 300 miles, but given the company's tendency to overpromise and underdeliver, we'll withhold praise until we see the final product.
