2024 NASCAR season in review: Tyler Reddick

Tyler Reddick had a career season and reached his first Championship 4 in his Cup career in 2024.

Work remains for the 23XI Racing team after finishing fourth among the title contenders in the championship race at Phoenix.

There could be many challenges to a repeat performance, including the status of the lawsuit filed by 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports against NASCAR and 23XI Racing expanding to three full-time teams in 2025.

While Tyler Reddick celebrated, Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin were left to ponder what could have been.

Reddick dedicates win to racing legend Bloomquist
Tyler Reddick credits Ty Gibbs for the push that sent him to the lead on the final restart, and dedicates his Michigan win to the late Scott Bloomquist who tragically passed away in a plane crash.

WHAT WENT RIGHT: Tied his career high in wins and set career highs in top fives, top 10s and laps led. Won the regular season championship. Had an 11-race stretch from May to August where he had 10 top 10s. Scored a dramatic win at Homestead, going from third to first on the last lap to secure a spot in the Championship 4 for the first time in his Cup career.

WHAT WENT WRONG: Had only three top 10s, including his Homestead win, in the playoffs. Had nine finishes of 25th or worse, including five such finishes in the final 12 races of the season. Other than leading 97 laps in his win at Homestead, he led only 27 laps in the other nine playoff races.

TYLER REDDICK SAID: "From I'd say the time after I woke up after winning Homestead, I was in a pretty good spot mentally, knowing what I needed to do, what to focus on. Felt like a familiar place from the times of (winning the title) on the Xfinity side, so I think I have a good place there. We just know that we've got to, hopefully, find some more speed."

WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2025: Team co-owner Denny Hamlin had a five-year plan for 23XI Racing to be a championship contender and Tyler Reddick reached the Championship 4 in the team's fourth season in 2024. The expectation is the climb continues — provided the off-track matters with the lawsuit with NASCAR and expanding to a third full-time Cup team don't slow that progress.
