Legacy Motor Club opens lawsuit against another NASCAR team

The dispute is related to an alleged charter agreement with Rick Ware Racing
Legacy Motor Club has been in the sport since 2021. They currently field two cars full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series.
On Tuesday, Legacy Motor Club opened a lawsuit against Rick Ware Racing. The team says they entered into an agreement with RWR to purchase a chater.
However, it appears the teams are disputing when that charter sale is expected to go through.
The lawsuit alleges that an agreement was reached on March 3rd. The team expected to use the charter in 2026. However, Legacy now claims that RWR wants out of the deal.
Legacy Motor Club is owned by 7-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson. Earlier this season, he became the majority owner of the team.

Legacy currently owns two charters driven by Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek. An additional charter would give them three full-time entries.
The cost of the charter remains undisclosed. However, other recent charter sales are estimated around $40M.
