Ahead of qualifying, every car must roll through an inspection line. NASCAR officials run multiple checks to make cars are legal, before they tough the track.
Cody Ware and Chandler Smith each failed pre-qualifying inspection two times. Both drivers were still permitted to qualify as they passed on their third attempt through the line.
Per the rules, NASCAR has ejected a crew member from each team. Ware has lost his engineer for the his Duel race. While Chandler Smith has lost his car chief.
In both cases, the crew members will be allowed to return to the track after the Duel races. They would be allowed to be back with the rest of the crew for Sunday’s Daytona 500.
