Charters are NASCAR’s version of franchises. Charter teams are guaranteed a starting spot in every race and they earn significantly more than an Open team.
Teams that own charters are now limited to just three charters per Bob Pockrass.
Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports own four charters each. Those teams will continue to operate all four charters as they are grandfathered in.
For everyone else, they now have a max of three charters they can operate.
