Two members of Shane van Gisbergen’s No.88 Trackhouse Racing team have been penalized in response to the New Zealander’s right-rear wheel coming off during last weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville.

Jack man Aslan Pugh and tire changer JonPatrik Kealy will both be sidelined for the next two races for violation of Sections 8.8.10.4.A & C of the NASCAR rulebook, which covers loss or separation of an improperly installed tire/wheel from the vehicle during the event.

While that was the only penalty to arise from the Cup race at Martinsville, it was a very different story in the Xfinity Series. JRV Motorsports driver Sammy Smith led the way on that front, picking up a $25,000 fine and 50 driver point deduction for wrecking Taylor Gray on the final lap (main image).

Gray and Jeb Burton were fined $5,000 apiece for confronting other drivers in the infield care center after the race, while Haas Factory Team was fined $5,000 for an unsecured lug nut on Sheldon Creed’s No.00 car. An identical infraction resulted in an identical fine for Spire Motorsports’ No.71 Truck of Rajah Caruth, marking the only post-race penalty for the Truck Series from the weekend.
