DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – It appears President Donald J. Trump will make a return trip to the Daytona 500 on Sunday, sources have confirmed independently to Kickin' the Tires.

The trip marks the second major sporting event President Trump has attended in seven days following his visit to the NFL Superbowl on Sunday, Feb. 9. It is also the second time in five years that the fan-popular president has attended the Great American Race. His last visit was in 2020 and the race ended up being delayed because of severe rain.

Although NASCAR has not officially confirmed the visit, security personnel at the track are aware and making preparations. Additionally, multiple U.S. Secret Service advance team members were onsite Wednesday surveilling the property.

During President Trump’s 2020 trip for the Daytona 500 NASCAR also did not make a statement about the visit until it was officially announced by The White House, so having no confirmation from the sanctioning body or the racetrack is not unusual. The White House has not yet made the planned visit public.

On Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) submitted a NOTAM or Notice To Airmen on Thursday morning, indicating VIP movement and implementing temporary flight restrictions in the area around Daytona Beach International Airport and the Daytona International Speedway. Those restrictions go into effect at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and last for four hours. The green flag for the Daytona 500 is scheduled to fly Sunday at 3:11 p.m.

A day before, the FAA filed a NOTAM for the Palm Beach, Fla. area beginning February 14, 2025, at 9 p.m. and ending on Feb. 16, 2025, at 6:45 p.m. A second NOTAM filed that day is to begin on Feb. 16 at 10:45 p.m. and end on Feb. 19 at 9:30 p.m. Both filings are indicative of VIP travel in the area between those times.
