Grammy Award-winner and urban superstar Wisin will help the Straight Talk Wireless 400 get started on a high note as he leads the field to green as the honorary pace car driver, while the iconic Cuban duo Gente de Zona brings an impactful legacy in Cuban music to the track as honorary event officials, Homestead-Miami Speedway today announced.
Juan Luis Morera Luna, known as Wisin, helped pioneer the style of reggaeton, collaborating with legends such as Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cent, T-Pain and Enrique Iglesias. With more than 22 No. 1 hits on Billboard‘s Latin Airplay chart, and 1.5 billion streams in the United States alone, Wisin‘s popularization of reggaeton has united generations.
Gente de Zona, composed of artists Randy Malcom and Alexander Delgado, led a musical revolution as the first Cuban artists to reach the top of Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs. The duo surged onto the international music scene in 2014 thanks to the success of "Bailando" alongside Enrique Iglesias and Descemer Bueno, winning three Latin Grammys for Best Urban Song, Best Urban Performance, and Song of the Year. As well, their album "Visualízate" won a Latin GRAMMY for Best Tropical Fusion Album.
"Wisin and Gente de Zona are revolutionary musicians who are a perfect example of the same South Florida energy that we have at Homestead-Miami Speedway," said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Guillermo Santa Cruz. "Their music brings together fans across all musical genres and they‘ll bring the perfect Miami vibe to what promises to be another spectacular day at the races here in Homestead."
Wisin rose to fame as part of the duo Wisin & Yandel, alongside Llandel Veguilla. The pair introduced the world to reggaeton and won multiple Latin Grammy and Billboard Latin Music Awards. Wisin then went on to have a successful career as a solo artist, achieving 44 entries on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart, including topping the charts for 14 weeks in 2016 with "Duele El Corazón" alongside Iglesias. His albums include “El Sobreviviente” and “Los Vaqueros: La Trilogía.”
Beyond performing on stage, Wisin made his mark as a producer, responsible for hits with artists such as Karol G, Daddy Yankee, and Ricky Martin. In 2018, he founded La Base Music Group, a record label dedicated to developing new talent and strengthening Latin music from Puerto Rico to the world.
Known for their dynamic shows, Gente de Zona is celebrating 25 years of music in 2025 and they will bring the enjoyment of their performance to Miami this year with a concert on June 7 at the Kaseya Center. The duo‘s upcoming album, "Reparto by Gente de Zona" pays tribute to their roots and shares the vibrant popular Cuban genre known as Reparto with the world. The iconic duo have collaborated with artists such as Becky G, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Pitbull, and many more.
