Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team rider, Alex Lowes, is happy with the 'solid work' he completed at Phillip Island.
Alex Lowes spearheaded Bimota's return to World Superbikes with the Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team.
The British rider raced the KB998 Rimini for the first time at Phillip Island at the weekend and finished eighth, seventh, and eighth across the three races.
On Saturday Lowes had already called for patience surrounding the Bimota WorldSBK project. But he is happy with their progress throughout the week in Australia.
"Sunday went well. We improved the bike a little over the course of the weekend and the races were solid. We finished in the places we had imagined, seventh and eighth today," said Lowes.
"I didn't have the confidence in the bike to fight and I didn't have the opportunity to overtake. I was stuck behind Andrea Locatelli for the entire second race.
"Respect to him because he didn't make any mistakes, but I was in the position where I was faster when he went faster, but I couldn't get past him. If I look at the big picture and evaluate the whole week including the official tests and then the first race weekend, it was a good week."
"It was the first time we tried the bike in warmer conditions, the first time we tried the bike with an SC1 tyre on the rear and there are only two KB998 Rimini in Superbike trim in the whole world," Lowes explained.
"We finished all three races and will take a lot of information back to Europe. We have to be happy with the solid work we have done."
