A promising pre-season became a 'horrible' Round One for Garrett Gerloff at Phillip Island.

Garrett Gerloff's pre-season with the Kawasaki WorldSBK Team had looked like a promising start for the American.

However, Round One has left Gerloff frustrated as he leaves Phillip Island with three points to his name.

The 29-year-old failed to finish Race One or the Superpole Race and scored points in his 13th-place finish in Race Two.

It was expected that Gerloff would start the 2025 WorldSBK season by fighting for top-ten finishes. The American had been at the sharp end during the Jerez and Portimao Tests, but his week in Australia was a nightmare.

"Honestly, it was a kind of horrible weekend and I feel really bad for the team and everyone," Gerloff stated after the opening round of the 2025 season.

"We are all giving our best but sometimes if you just don't have luck on your side, let's say, it doesn't matter how hard you work.

"It was unfortunate that I had Nagashima crash into me in the Superpole Race and I couldn't finish. Then, I just had no speed in Race Two. We finished in the points, but far from the win.

"I am giving everything. Thanks to the team for all their hard work and we will try again next time."
