Toprak Razgatlioglu claims the 2024 World Superbike Championship as he finishes second at Jerez.
The 2024 World Superbike Championship has arrived at its 11th and final round of the season. After 34 races there are still two more to go on Sunday. However, the World Superbike Championship has been won by Toprak Razgatlioglu.
Nicolo Bulega won the opening race of the weekend at Jerez in dominant style. The Italian started from pole position and once the lights went out he never looked back. Bulega dominated the race but had to settle for second in the Championship.
The newly crowned 2024 World Superbike Champion, Razgatlioglu, crossed the line in second place. The Turkish rider could not match the pace set by Bulega in front of him, but he knew second was good enough to claim the title.
Yamaha returned to a World Superbike podium as Andrea Locatelli finished in third place for the first time since Race Two in the Czech Republic. A difficult season for Yamaha and Locatelli could have a positive end if the Italian can claim multiple podiums this weekend.
After starting from the front row Alex Lowes took his Kawasaki to a fourth-place finish at Jerez. The British rider is in a battle for fourth in the World Superbike Championship and his result at Jerez will help him in his fight.
The top Honda in Race One at Jerez was the Team HRC rider of Iker Lecuona. The Spaniard went on to finish in fifth place in the opening race.
ROKiT BMW Motorrad rider, Michael van der Mark, did not match his teammate this season. However, the Dutch rider has put together some incredible rides in 2024.
The second Team HRC rider inside the top ten was Xavi Vierge as he finished in seventh place.
Kawasaki Racing Team managed to get both of their riders inside the top ten in Race One. Axel Bassani finished in eighth place on the Kawasaki ZX-10RR.
GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK rider, Dominique Aegerter, was back in the top ten as he finished in ninth place.
Completing the top ten was the Bonovo Action BMW rider, Garrett Gerloff.
Six British riders finished outside of the top ten, with one crashing out of the race. Jonathan Rea was 11th, Sam Lowes was 13th, Scott Redding was 14th, Bradley Ray was 17th, Kyle Ryde was 22nd, Tarran Mackenzie was 24th and Tommy Bridewell crashed out of the race.
