The Tesla Model Y has surpassed the Nissan Leaf as Norway’s best-selling EV of all time, as records tracked starting in 2011 show the all-electric crossover has finally worked past one of the first EVs offered.

The Model Y became the best-selling vehicle in the world last year and is on pace to be the top seller in the United States this year.

However, there are some vehicles that have been around for a very long time, like the Nissan Leaf, and in terms of all-time sales, it takes several years for the newcomers to catch up.

Now, sales and registration figures show the Model Y has surpassed the Nissan Leaf, according to Electric Drives.

The Model Y has already sold 59,775 vehicles since it was first offered in Norway, surpassing the Nissan Leaf, which was at 58,860 as of September.

The Model Y is the best-selling EV in Norway through the first nine months of the year. According to EU-EV sales data, the Model Y has 12,578 sales, outpacing the Volvo EX30 and Volkswagen ID.4 by a considerable margin.

The EX30 has 5,318 sales so far this year, while the ID.4 has 4,944.

The Tesla Model 3 is in fourth with 4,652 sales, according to the site. The all-electric sedan currently sits as the third-best-selling vehicle in Norway’s rich history of EVs, with 43,910 units.

The Model Y has truly taken so many different markets by storm, especially as it has already landed as the best-selling vehicle for a calendar year. While we can guess it will be close to repeating that record once again this year
