F1i's Driver Ratings for the 2024 Las Vegas GP
Today at 06:15 AM
Pierre Gasly, Alpine (Retired, lap 15): 7/10
Fresh from his podium success in Brazil, Pierre Gasly bounded in to Las Vegas on a high and was in the top ten throughout practice, and then dazzled us all by taking third place in qualifying. What could he do in the race? Unfortunately not much, before a problem with his power unit saw him going backwards. By lap 15 enough was enough and the team retired the car. His rating is therefore mainly for his performance for what happened before the race, when he was one of the undoubted stars of the show.
Alex Albon, Williams (Retired, lap 25): 5.5/10
Things have really just not been going as well as hoped for as far as Alex Albon is concerned. The second half of the season has been strewn with a series of incidents and car problems for the Williams driver. In Vegas he underwhelmed in qualifying and missed the first cut, but it was a moot point with a suspected power unit issue akin to the one that had plagued him in practice forcing him to retire on lap 25. To be fully transparent, the rating is more a reflection on the current state of the FW46 than on Albon himself.
