2012-2013 Hyundai ix35 recalled in Australia due to fire risk

A potential manufacturing defect in nearly 9000 Hyundai ix35 SUVs could cause brake fluid to leak into electronic components and start an engine fire, according to the recall notice.
Hyundai has recalled 8794 examples of its 2012-2013 Hyundai ix35 SUV due to a potential manufacturing fault that could lead to a vehicle fire.
The recall notice states brake fluid could leak into the Antilock Braking System (ABS) control module, wherein an electrical short circuit could occur, potentially resulting in an engine compartment fire.
The affected vehicles are stamped 2012 to 2013 models, but may have been sold at a later date, and affect all ix35 variants and powertrains.
The recall notice says: “Due to a manufacturing defect, brake fluid may leak into the Antilock Braking System (ABS) control module.”
“This could cause an electrical short circuit leading to a vehicle engine compartment fire while parked or driving.”
