The new fault could cause the autonomous emergency brake system to stop working, according to the recall notice.

Ford has recalled2070 examples of its 2021-2023 Ford F-150 models, citing a potential fault with the lamps and autonomous emergency braking system.

Some Ford F-150s included in this recall have previously been recalled in May 2024 for courtesy lamp defects that do not meet Australian Design Rule specifications.

According to the latest recall notices, Ford has identified new faults within the affected Ford F-150’s autonomous emergency braking system as well as the car’s courtesy, fog, daytime and side direction indicator lamps.

The affected vehicles are stamped 2021 to 2023 models but may have been sold at a later date.

The recall notices, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The courtesy lamps, fog lamps, and daytime running lamps fitted in the vehicle do not comply with the requirements set out under Australian Design Rule (ADR) 13 – Installation of Lighting and Light-signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles.

“In addition, the Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) may not re-activate after an ignition cycle as per the requirements set out under ADR 98 – Advanced Emergency Braking for Passenger Vehicles and Light Goods Vehicles.

“The disabling of the AEB system and inaction of this driver aid system could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.

“Vehicles are not compliant with the ADR 98 – Advanced Emergency Braking – Light Vehicles and Goods Vehicles.”

The 119 examples of the Ford F-150 RHD XLT LWB involved in this recall have the same lamp and AEB system defects as the other F-150 variants but do have an additional defect with the side direction indicator lamps.

“The side direction indicator lamps fitted in the vehicle do not comply with the requirements set out under Australian Design Rule (ADR) 06/00 – Direction Indicators,” the recall notice states.

“Vehicles are not compliant with ADR 06 – Direction Indicators and ADR 13 – Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles.”
