2023-2024 Kia Sorento recalled in Australia

The fault could cause the indicator lights and the daytime running lights to stop working, according to the recall notice.
Kia Australia has recalled 5978 examples of its 2023-2024 Sorento SUV, citing a potential software fault with the affected vehicles.
The affected vehicles all pertain to the MQ4 PE model, and are stamped as 2023 to 2024 examples but may have been sold at a later date.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a software issue, the indicator light and/or upper part of the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) may not operate as intended. This may result in reduced visibility.
"Reduced visibility will potentially increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
"Vehicles are not compliant with Australian Design Rules (ADR) 13/00 – Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group vehicles and ADR 76/00 – Daytime Running Light."

Kia Australia said all affected owners will be contacted via direct mail and to have their vehicles inspected by their nearest Kia dealership.
The South Korean carmaker said authorised dealers can rectify the fault free of charge or an Over The Air (OTA) update will be made available for the customer to carry out on their vehicles.
