GWM has cut $2000 from the cost of its soon-to-arrive Haval H6 GT plug-in hybrid SUV – along with further loyalty discounts for existing GWM owners.

The cost of the 2025 GWM Haval H6 GT Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) has been reduced for a limited time.

GWM Australia has launched an introductory offer for the H6 GT PHEV with a $2000 price cut for all contracts signed by 31 March 2025 – the same month the first examples of the electrified mid-size SUV are due to arrive in Australia.

Until the end of March, the H6 GT PHEV will be priced from $53,990 drive-away, before the previously-announced $55,990 cost applies for contracts signed from 1 April 2025 onwards.

A GWM-branded 7kW home charger, valued at $499 before fitment costs, will be included for all H6 GT PHEV vehicles purchased by 31 March 2025.

The company said the introductory offer is intended to "reward early adopters of this innovative [PHEV] technology".

Until 31 March 2025, existing GWM owners can also receive a further discount, with a customer trade-in of any other GWM taking a further $3000 off – while current GWM owners who add the H6 GT PHEV as a second vehicle receive a $1000 loyalty discount.

Due to launch in Australia in March, the H6 GT plug-in hybrid will be offered in a single Ultra all-wheel-drive specification to match the current non-hybrid model.

The SUV includes a 35.4kWh battery pack – larger than some electric cars, such as the discontinued Mazda MX-30 – rated for a 180-kilometre electric-only driving range, beating any other plug-in hybrid currently sold in Australia.

However the range figures quoted for most PHEVs in Australia – including the Haval H6 GT, along with its BYD Sealion 6 and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV rivals – use the NEDC lab-test standard, which is less stringent than newer WLTP testing.

A combined 342kW and 762Nm power output is achieved through a 110kW/230Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, two front electric motors, and a 135kW/232Nm electric motor mounted to the rear axle.

GWM claims a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds, and a combined hybrid range of "more than" 1000 kilometres – enough to drive from Melbourne to Sydney, with a full fuel tank and battery.

It supports fast charging on a direct current (DC) unit up to 48 kilowatts – for a 30 to 80 per cent top-up in less than 30 minutes – and a 6.6kW charge on an alternating current (AC) home charger.
