A mid-life facelift for Kia's most-popular vehicle in Australia, the Sportage, will debut in November ahead of its local launch in 2025.

The facelifted 2025 Kia Sportage has been teased ahead of its full reveal next month.

Kia has confirmed its updated Sportage mid-size SUV will become the latest model to receive its 'Opposites United' corporate design language with new headlights and redesigned LED tail-light internals.

Due in Australia in 2025 as a Model Year 2026 vehicle, the update is also expected to include revised bumpers and new-look alloy wheel designs.

It follows a mid-life facelift for its Hyundai Tucson twin-under-the-skin launched in Australia in mid-2024, with the Sportage expected to include similar tweaks inside.

Likely revisions will include new 'ccNC' software for its 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for all variants, and the Kia Connect telematics service in Australia.

It is also expected to receive intelligent speed-limit assist with an audible overspeed warning, a head-up display, and an upgraded lane-keep assist for semi-autonomous highway driving.

Mechanical changes could include an updated 1.6-litre hybrid system with an all-wheel-drive option in Australia, and a power bump to 172kW and 367Nm.

While Hyundai has stopped offering the Tucson with a 2.0-litre diesel engine for its facelift, Kia has not announced any plans to discontinue diesel from the Sportage in Australia – which remains available despite the launch of the petrol-electric hybrid model earlier this year.

The Kia Sportage is one of the only mainstream mid-size SUVs to offer a diesel powertrain in Australia – and it is the final model to include a manual transmission with its base 2.0-litre non-turbo petrol engine.

Full details about the 2025 Kia Sportage will be announced in November ahead of its Australian launch next year.

Price rises are likely to account for an increase in standard equipment – while it is possible the hybrid line-up could expand beyond the current front-wheel-drive SX and GT-Line variants in Australia.

The current Kia Sportage line-up is priced between $32,995 before on-roads for the S front-wheel drive petrol manual to $55,420 for the GT-Line Hybrid FWD auto.

To showcase the facelifted Sportage, Kia has collaborated with Netflix on the second season of the hit South Korean television series Squid Game, which will be released on 26 December 2024.
