- Two variants, Style and Design
- Priced from $45,900 drive-away
Leapmotor is expanding its 2025 C10 mid-size SUV line-up with a plug-in ‘range-extender’ hybrid powertrain option, arriving in showrooms with discounted launch pricing.
Available to customers who order and take delivery before June 30, the C10 Range Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV) is available from $45,900 drive-away for the entry-level Style and $49,900 for the top-spec Design.
For comparison, the electric C10 is currently offered with special drive-away prices of $47,500 for the Style, and $51,500 for the Design, compared to list prices of $45,888 and $49,888 before on-road costs respectively.
Whereas the C10 BEV (battery electric vehicle) features a 160kW rear electric motor and a 69.9kWh battery for a claimed driving range of 420km in European WLTP lab testing, the C10 REEV tweaks the recipe with a new powertrain.
The C10 REEV uses electric motors to drive its wheels, but features a petrol generator under the bonnet to charge the battery when it runs low, with no direct connection between the engine and the wheels.
The rear electric motor only outputs 158kW in the range-extender, and the battery capacity drops to 28.4kWh, but a 1.5-litre petrol four-cylinder engine enters the mix to charge the battery when it is depleted.
As a result, on electric power alone, the C10 REEV is claimed to travel up to 170km as tested on the less-stringent NEDC lab-test protocol, but with the petrol engine coming into play, driving range is boosted to up to 1150km (again, on NEDC testing).
According to lab testing, the combined fuel consumption figure is just 0.9 litres per 100km – the lab tests rely heavily on a charged battery, with the engine not used until it is absolutely needed – while carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are measured at 21 grams per kilometre.
In addition to refuelling, customers can also charge the battery directly, with 65kW DC fast charging claimed to recharge the battery from 30 to 80 er cent in about 18 minutes.
Alongside the C10 REEV, the Chinese brand is launching a new Leapmotor Care aftersales package that applies to all model year 2025 (MY2025) vehicles regardless of powertrain.
The aftersales plan encompasses eight years of capped-price servicing, roadside assist and high-voltage battery warranty, the latter extending to 160,000km of travel.
But the warranty period has changed for the MY25 C10, moving from seven years/160,000km to six years/150,000km, whichever comes first.
Servicing intervals in the REEV are also shorter at 12 months/10,000km compared to the BEV's 12 months/20,000km.
Aside from the powertrain, equipment carries over in Style and Design trims.
Highlights include the standard fitment of dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, a surround-view monitor, a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a wireless smartphone charger.
