The LandCruiser Prado is once again Australia's most popular large SUV, dominating its closest rival – the Ford Everest – by more than double, in its best month to-date.
The 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado four-wheel drive has outsold the next-best selling Ford Everest by more than two-to-one in February 2025, the Toyota now making up one-in-four of all large SUVs sold in Australia.
The Prado – with 17,000 pre-orders ahead of its arrival in Australia last November – posted 2723 sales in February 2025, more than twice as many as the Ford Everest, to dominate the Large SUV <$80K segment with 26.1 per cent share.
The Ford Ranger-based Everest recorded 1207 sales in February 2025, a year-on-year increase of 148 units (14 per cent) for a strong runner-up position and 11.6 per cent share, but clearly shaded by the Prado's performance.
Year-to-date the Prado's 5570 sales lead the Everest’s 2886, gains for both models of 101.5 per cent and 29.1 per cent respectively, while Prado's 26.1 per cent share of the Large SUV <$80K segment heads Everest's 14.0 per cent.

The Prado's popularity saw it record its best month on record of 3590 deliveries in November 2024 – the month the new-generation arrived in Australia – with the wait lists stretching to beyond six months.
Toyota Australia told Drive that customers ordering a new Prado in March 2025 should expect delivery between three and six months after ordering, down from an estimated seven-to-eight month wait late last year.
The car maker confirmed at the launch 27,000 Prados had been secured for local showrooms for the following 12 months, with sales since the new model's November release totalling 11,847 to the end of February.
The figure of 27,000 is slightly more than the Everest's 2024 sales of 26,494 – a record year for the nameplate, making up more than one-quarter of Ford's sales.

Drive understands there are no significant wait times for customers ordering an Everest, with delivery across the line-up typically taking place within 60 days.
The gap between the old and new version going on-sale saw the Prado's full-year sales drop by more than half to 9802 in 2024, with the new model having taken four months to surpass last year's total.
With 908 sales the Kia Sorento was the third-most popular vehicle in the Large SUV segment in February 2025, slightly down on the 950 sold the previous February.
Australia's overall new-vehicle market was down 6.7 per cent in February 2025 – not including Tesla or Polestar sales reported separately – with Toyota the best-selling brand ahead of Mazda and Kia, with Ford fourth.
