Facebook founder gets wild custom Porsche made – but it's not what you'd think

Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan have just bought two Porsches, but the latter is definitely scoring the more interesting car.

Facebook co-founder, and second richest person on the planet, Mark Zuckerberg and his partner Priscilla Chan have taken delivery of a pair of Porsches – but one is unlike anything available in showrooms.

Thanks to West Coast Customs – a California-based vehicle workshop specialising in extreme car builds, having worked with other celebrities such as Shaquille O'Neal and Will.I.Am in the past – Chan's vehicle of choice is a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT with a more practical twist.

Converted into a 'minivan', the Porsche now features lowered suspension and a stretched wheelbase to accommodate rear sliding doors, making it easier for the couple's three children and dog to get in and out.

For reference, the Cayenne Turbo GT is available in Australia priced from $371,700 before on-road costs and sits atop Porsche's large SUV tree as the most potent petrol-only-powered model.

Featuring a 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 engine, the Cayenne Turbo GT outputs a supercar-scaring 485kW and 850Nm.

With drive sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Cayenne Turbo GT can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds – making it quicker than the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, Audi R8 V10 and Mercedes-AMG GT R.

However, it is unclear how much the added weight of the custom bodywork has dulled the performance of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, nor has it been revealed how much the work cost.

At a minimum, the changes – at a glance – encompass lengthening the floor and roof, structural reinforcement to accommodate the extra length, bespoke rear quarter panels for the sliding doors mechanism, fabricating custom doors, and rerouting all electrical and mechanical plumbing to suit the new body.

While Chan scores a custom-built Porsche, Zuckerberg isn't left out of the party, with the world's second-richest person taking delivery of a 911 GT3 Touring – finished in the same flat grey exterior colour as the Cayenne – at the same time.

Zuckerberg opted for a manual version, which retails for $417,400 in Australia and features a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six petrol engine that punches out 375kW/470Nm.

This allows a 0-100km/h run in 3.9s, meaning Chan's custom Cayenne Turbo GT Minivan has a decent chance of beating her husband's ride at a set of lights.

It is unclear how much wheel time Zuckerberg will get in the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring as his current daily driver is a Cadillac CT5-V.
