Ollie Bearman is no longer a rookie by Formula 1 standards. After three Grands Prix behind the wheel for Ferrari and Haas, he is "ready" to join the championship full-time starting in 2025. However, Oliver Bearman's experience in Brazil turned out to be more challenging than expected, with Ayao Komatsu shedding light on an unexpected aspect of the event.

The world of Formula 1 must always be prepared for any setbacks, including injuries and illnesses. Oliver Bearman, reserve driver for Haas and Ferrari, exemplifies this as he had the chance to drive in three official F1 sessions in 2024. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at the Jeddah circuit, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, and the Brazilian Grand Prix at the Interlagos circuit provided an opportunity for the team and driver to build familiarity ahead of next season, when Oliver Bearman will officially join Haas.

Yet, the young Englishman's adventure in Brazil was more complicated than anticipated, involving yet another last-minute call. This was due to Magnussen being sidelined by an intestinal infection, leaving the seat open for the nineteen-year-old.

After participating in FP1, Oliver Bearman found himself thrown into a new weekend experience, as he had never actually raced at Interlagos. Ayao Komatsu shared a curious story about the Brazilian weekend.

"Knowing Ollie had never driven at Interlagos before, I asked him if he'd done any simulator sessions to get familiar with the track. His response was direct and simple: 'No.' He'd only briefly driven it in a video game before… So, I thought it would be a challenge for him."

Despite his inexperience with the Brazilian circuit, the young Brit showed composure in handling one of the toughest weekends of the season. It was also his first time driving an F1 car in extremely wet conditions, where sensitivity is crucial to avoid mistakes behind the wheel.
