Fernando Alonso has decided to respond to those who accuse him of making mistakes in his Formula 1 career choices. In an interview with GpBlog, the Spanish champion defended his decisions with firmness and conviction. “Who can say they’ve never made a mistake? And how can one predict the future?” said the former Ferrari driver – “Think of Lewis Hamilton when he left McLaren to join Mercedes. He was criticized by many, yet he won six world championships with them.” – the Spaniard pointe out.
Referring to recent market moves, Fernando Alonso added: “The same goes for 2025. No one knows what Ferrari will do next year. If they are competitive and win the championship, then Lewis’s choice will have been excellent. If Mercedes triumphs instead, it could seem like a wrong move. How can you know in advance?” The Aston Martin driver then reflected on his past opportunities: “It was the same for me. I could have signed with Red Bull, but I have no regrets about the choices I made.” Fernando Alonso, who will drive with Aston Martin until the end of the 2026 Formula 1 season, concluded by showing confidence in his journey: “Every choice is made with the best intentions and with the information available at the time. I am proud of my career and the experiences I have had.”
At 43, Fernando Alonso continues to be one of the most determined protagonists in the Formula 1 world championship, proving that passion and dedication know no age.
