Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari, a dream for many that's about to come true: some were lucky enough to witness this story unfold from within the Mercedes team. One such person is Matt Whyman, a writer and the author of a new book that delves into life inside the Brackley-Brixworth team.

"Inside Mercedes F1: Life in the Fast Lane" is the title of British writer Matt Whyman's new book, which tells the story of the German team from up close, offering a privileged view for any Formula One fan.

The book's author spent several months with Mercedes, during which he observed the English champion's departure from the team up close. Matt Whyman shared this experience with *The Mirror*. The news of Lewis's departure from Mercedes shook everyone, including the team itself: "Shortly after the announcement, it was time for the W15's shakedown at Silverstone," Matt Whyman recounted.

"There was a strange moment, lasting about 30 seconds. I mean, once he got in the car, everything felt normal again," he explained. "People accepted it and understood his reasons, which are really very simple," he said in the British newspaper interview.

"Give a child a piece of paper and some colors and ask them to draw a car—they'll probably make it red." That's how Enzo Ferrari described the effect his 'creations' had on people, becoming legendary over the years. The Prancing Horse is a dream for anyone who grows up passionate about cars, and Lewis Lewis Hamilton is no exception.

Hamilton: "Ferrari is Every Kid's Dream"
Matt Whyman continued, "I asked Lewis directly what was happening. He replied, 'It's every kid's dream who starts racing to drive for Ferrari. It's just that simple—I don't want to end my career, look back, and have regrets.'" – the seven-time Formula 1 world champion responded.

On the moment he announced it to the team: "His team means a lot to him. Every year he takes them paintballing to build team spirit before the season. He told me he arrived and saw them all waiting for him. He said he couldn't get out of the car for 20 minutes. 'What will I say to them after all this time?' he asked himself. It's very human, and I don't think it was an easy decision for him."

How did his colleagues react? Matt Whyman explained: "I think everyone understands. It's Ferrari, and this is a guy who's done it all; that was the only experience he hadn't had."
