In Las Vegas to keep the Constructors’ dream alive: winning the championship is possible, and Carlos Sainz is showing the way for a Ferrari in pursuit.
The final trio of 2024 World Championship events begins, marking the last three races for Carlos Sainz in a Ferrari suit. Before bidding farewell to his beloved Maranello, the Spanish driver has one final wish: to win the F1 Constructors’ title.
With the Las Vegas round—following an unusual November break—Formula 1 enters the final rush of the 2024 season. While the Drivers’ Championship is firmly in Max Verstappen’s hands, the fight for the Constructors’ title remains open. McLaren, the favorite, must hold off a relentless Ferrari in the final kilometers of the year, spurred on by Carlos Sainz's determination.
Carlos Sainz, the formula for the championship: “McLaren needs to make a mistake.”
The Spanish driver, set to join the Grove team next season, aims to leave Maranello in glory. The championship lead is not far away, with Ferrari trailing by “just” 36 points. However, with only three races left, this margin could prove decisive for the “papaya” team. “The championship is within reach,” Carlos Sainz said from Las Vegas, but Ferrari doesn't fully control its fate. “We need McLaren to make some mistakes. If they don't slip up, they'll secure the title, even if we achieve a one-two finish in all the remaining races.”
“Goodbye, Ferrari—I want this last gift.”
Driven by the desire for revenge and a sweet farewell, Carlos Sainz is not thinking about the future and remains fully focused on the red team: “In Brazil, the race didn't satisfy us, but we've turned the page and are focused on this challenge. My mentality won't change (in these last races in red): I'll be a Ferrari driver until the very last corner of the final race.”
“If I think about it, I can't imagine a better gift for the team than winning the Constructors’ World Championship,” a determined Carlos Sainz explained. “Charles and I will do everything we can to achieve this goal. Of course, we're not the favorites, but we're in a good position. We have the right calmness to face this challenge.” – the future Williams driver concluded ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend in Nevada.
