Ferrari leaves the penultimate race of the year with a bittersweet result. While victory in the Las Vegas GP eluded them, Carlos Sainz’s third place and Charles Leclerc’s fourth secured crucial points over McLaren.
The Maranello team now trails their rivals by twenty-four points with two races remaining in the season. Though Qatar is not the most favorable track for the SF-24’s characteristics, Ferrari will do everything possible to keep their championship hopes alive.
Charles Leclerc furious at the end of the race
Despite this, the atmosphere within Ferrari’s garage seems far from serene. In the post-race team radio, Charles Leclerc appeared visibly angry with Carlos Sainz.
The Monegasque driver took issue with some actions by his teammate, leading to an emotional outburst at the end of the race.
BB: “Remember the pickup.”
CL: “Yes, whatever you want, as always.”
BB: “Charles, you did your job. Thank you.”
CL: “Yes, yes, yes. I did my job. But being ‘the good guy’ always screws me. Every single time. It’s not even about that; respect is needed.”
At this point, Vasseur intervenes.
FV: “Charles, Charles…”
CL: “I know I need to keep quiet, but at some point, it’s always the same story. Oh my god.”
BB: “Okay, but you still did the right thing for the team.”
[…]BB: “Remember the pickup.”
CL: “Yes, the damn pickup. What the hell are we doing? Oh, the radio is on. Sorry, that was fun (ironically).”
