Confirmed: Carlos Sainz takes his 6th ICE of 2022 F1 season and 5 place penalty for Brazil GP

Scuderia Ferrari has fitted Carlos Sainz’s F1-75 car with ‘only’ a new internal combustion engine (ICE), his sixth of the 2022 championship, without introducing a new turbo and for this reason the Spanish driver will move back five positions on the starting grid for the 2022 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, better known as Interlagos.

The odrer of Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix will be determined by the Sprint event scheduled to take place tomorrow evening. Qualifying will take place tonight and Carlos Sainz’s position will not change on the grid at the start of the Sprint race on Saturday. The penalty of five positions will be applied on the starting grid of Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz also has a new exhaust system, but being the seventh of the eight available he does not take an additional penalty for this element.
