Drivers against the FIA—F1's intervention could calm the waters. This is the hope of Alexander Wurz, former F1 driver and president of the GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers' Association). The Austrian emphasizes that no one wants to directly rebel against the new directives of the International Federation. However, it is crucial that everyone does their best to protect drivers and team members.

The FIA is making headlines even during the off-season, while teams are still far from hitting the track with their new cars. After taking initial steps at the end of last season—with strict anti-profanity rules that affected both Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc—the Federation has now taken an even tougher stance.

The new regulations coming into effect this year impose far harsher penalties than the “community service” previously handed to Red Bull's Dutch driver. Drivers now face hefty fines, suspensions, or even the deduction of championship points for using profanity, as well as for directly criticizing the International Federation and its stewards.

Wurz: "We ask F1 to support the drivers"
In this context, the role of the GPDA will be crucial. Through its president, Alexander Wurz, the association is seeking an initial reconciliation: "It's an important topic, of course," the Austrian told RacingNews365. "But perhaps it's a bigger issue in the media than within our ranks. I think everyone understands that drivers are role models for new generations, and that comes with responsibility." – he pointed out.

"No driver wants to rebel, but we also have to recognize that, in the heat of the moment, there are cases where a word might slip from the brain through the mouth and end up in a microphone."

"We hope that those responsible for television broadcasts can use audio censorship at the right moments to protect the drivers, so that, as an entire industry, we set a good example for the world and for young people." – Alexander Wurz concluded.
