They could have been teammates. Yes, because if it's true that Lewis Hamilton has finally realized his dream of driving for Ferrari, a few years ago Valentino Rossi came very close to it. The Tavullia rider, in fact, around 2006, had the chance to do some tests with the Red car.
Tests which, according to those directly involved, were quite positive, so much so that the 46 was offered the opportunity to race in Formula 1 with a smaller team before considering a possible move to Ferrari.
The negotiations didn't go through, and Valentino Rossi continued to race in MotoGP, achieving many satisfactions.
That day on track with Lewis Hamilton
The multiple world champion then had the chance to get back behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car. It was 2019 when Lewis Hamilton and Valentino Rossi were part of the famous "swap," with the British driver driving the Yamaha MotoGP YZR-M1 while the Pesaro rider had the opportunity to drive the W08.
"I arrived late. Lewis came into the motorhome and scolded me for being late with the usual Italian gestures: cappuccino, brioche… He smiled, but not entirely," said Valentino Rossi to Corriere della Sera.
And on Ferrari…
Number 46 then commented on the news of Hamilton's move to Ferrari. "It's definitely a wonderful thing. Seeing him in the red suit moves me too, and I can't wait to see how he'll do. And it will be interesting to see how Charles Leclerc will do," Valentino Rossi added.
