Guanyu Zhou and Ferrari have surprised everyone. The Maranello team has announced that the young Chinese driver will take on the role of third driver next year. After both Robert Shwartzman and Oliver Bearman pursued “different paths,” Ferrari found itself forced to choose two new reserve drivers to join Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.

Since Zhou was dropped by Sauber, many rumors have linked his name to the Italian team, as he had previously been a member of the FDA. For this reason, Ferrari has decided to give him another chance. Next year, Guanyu will work in the simulator and try to assist the two main drivers in the development of the new car.

However, the surprises do not end here. Alongside him will be the Italian driver Antonio Giovinazzi, who, after leaving Formula 1 a few years ago and embarking on an adventure in Formula E, and later in the WEC where he triumphed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is ready to return to F1, still wearing the Red suit and helping the team work behind the scenes to try to bring the Maranello team back to the top of the Constructors’ Championship.
