According to reports from AMuS, Ferrari acknowledges McLaren's impressive pace but believes the Bahrain test conditions distorted the true competitive picture. Track temperature fluctuations, which ranged between 10-15°C in cooler sessions and soared up to 45°C at peak heat, may have exaggerated performance discrepancies. In contrast, Australia's race-day temperatures are forecasted to be a stable 26°C—offering a more relevant comparison for race conditions.
Additionally, Ferrari's SF-25 carried a heavier fuel load during testing, potentially masking its true pace compared to McLaren's setup. The team also retained all of its measuring instruments on board until the final day of testing, a session ultimately cut short due to a reliability issue, preventing them from completing a full race simulation.
