A short while ago, Formula 1 revealed the launch of a new charter designed to advance diversity and inclusion.

The initiative, agreed upon by all 10 teams, Formula 1 itself, and the FIA, was developed with the support of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Mission 44, the charitable foundation established by Lewis Hamilton in 2021.

While the project's vision is to "enable anyone to access, contribute to, and enjoy global motorsport," its mission is to "identify and remove barriers to attracting and retaining a rich diversity of people in workplaces, improving working methods, and engaging with stakeholders to foster innovation."

Statements from Stefano Domenicali and Mohammed Ben Sulayem
"Our sport is rightly recognized for its elite performance and innovation. We are clear that the only way to maintain and improve those exceptional standards is to embrace diversity of thought, ideas, and experiences," said an enthusiastic Stefano Domenicali.

"The sport is highly competitive, and we are all committed to employing the best talent. We know from the Hamilton Commission report that there are opportunities for us to work collectively to find and nurture that talent. Significant changes have already been implemented across the sport."

"The charter is the next major milestone on that journey. We are all committed to making our sport more open and diverse."

"The diversification of motorsport is essential for its continued success," added FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem – "By ensuring equal opportunities for talent and increasing accessibility, we can drive change by committing to this charter. This joint initiative between Formula 1, the teams, and our Federation represents a united course of action that I am proud to be part of."

Finally, Hayaatun Sillem, Chief Executive of the Royal Academy of Engineering, also commented: "Formula 1 has taken the findings of the Hamilton Commission in 2021 seriously. Since then, the sport has created a range of initiatives to enhance diversity."

"This report, which the sport commissioned us to create independently, establishes a framework for progress and outlines commitments to both principles and actions. It is a fundamental step in Formula 1's ongoing efforts to improve access and performance. We believe it will be a catalyst for even greater positive impact and cross-sport collaboration." – he concluded.
