Fred Vasseur looking towards Silverstone
After recent underwhelming performances, Scuderia Ferrari approaches the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit with uncertain prospects, as the British track favors cars with high aerodynamic load, an area where the SF-24 is lacking compared to its main rivals Red Bull and McLaren in this first part of the 2024 Formula 1 championship.

The latest updates brought to Montmeló were supposed to solve the problem, but so far, they haven’t been productive: the additional downforce seems to be there, but it is not being utilized due to the reappearance of the bouncing issue, which forces the team to raise the car. However, team principal Frederic Vasseur remains convinced that they are on the right path.

Fred Vasseur’s comments
“The British Grand Prix is one of the most traditional events in the championship, along with the Italian Grand Prix. The Silverstone track features high-speed corners that reward the best cars and drivers. I am convinced that our engineers in Maranello have done a good job, creating an update package that has given us more aerodynamic load. Now it is up to us to extract the potential we know is there from the SF-24 on the track,” said the Frenchman ahead of the Silverstone race weekend.

“This weekend we will have the standard format, with three free practice sessions, which we will need to use to find a setup that allows us to take advantage of the new features. As I also said in Imola when the first updates arrived, knowing how to fine-tune the car can be as valuable as the specific weight of the new components. We need to do a better job, putting Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in a position to be more competitive in qualifying and to fight for significant points on race Sunday.” – the Ferrari team principal concluded, as reported by the Maranello team’s official website.
