Fred Vasseur's promise: "Ferrari is ready for the championship, it's part of its DNA" – Abu Dhabi GP
Today at 09:40 AM
The final act of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is approaching in a season that Fred Vasseur’s Ferrari aims to make its own, with a Constructors’ Championship still up for grabs. The challenge is tough, but nothing is impossible, and the men from Maranello are ready to reclaim a title that has been missing for 16 years, since that distant 2008.
In the Abu Dhabi GP preview, it is also announced that Arthur Leclerc will replace Carlos Sainz in FP1 of the final race of the season. Not only that, Antonio Fuoco will also have the honor of driving the SF-24 in the post-season tests taking place on December 10 at Yas Marina.
The battle for the world title will be intense, but Ferrari is in it
Here are the comments of a determined and ready Frederic Vasseur for a challenge that is already historic: “For the first time since Formula 1 entered its hybrid era, we have managed to contend for a title in the final race. This is an important milestone, and this weekend we will try to do even more.”
It will be important to stay grounded as the challenge will be very demanding. “Of course, we have to be realistic; we are mathematically in the running, but the title is very difficult to achieve because, even if we finish first and second, it might not be enough. McLaren has a 21-point advantage and could settle for a third and fifth place.” – the French manager pointed out.
But Fred Vasseur is keen to make a promise to all Ferrari fans. “Challenges, however, are in Ferrari’s DNA, and therefore we want to try. We have prepared thoroughly for this event; we know qualifying will play a key role, and that our car performs better in the race. Charles, Carlos, and the entire team will give every last drop of sweat to try and bring home the title.” – the Ferrari team boss concluded.
