Fred Vasseur: "The first day is always exciting, especially this year"

Ferrari’s Day-1 of 2025
Charles Leclerc and – above all – Lewis Hamilton understandably dominated the headlines and coverage of Ferrari's 2025 debut during the Fiorano test with the SF-23. However, away from the watchful and passionate eyes of the fans, the entire team was fully operational, closely monitoring every detail provided by the seven-time world champion and the Monegasque driver.
Team principal Frederic Vasseur, now beginning his third year at Ferrari, shared the team's impressions following Hamilton's highly anticipated debut with the Scuderia and Charles Leclerc's return to the track just 43 days after the Abu Dhabi tests.
Fred Vasseur's comments
"The first time the team takes to the track is a bit like the first day of school, and it's always a rather exciting moment, especially this year, as we had Lewis's debut with the team. Welcoming a new driver is always a significant moment," said the Frenchman. "Today may have been less special for Charles, but it was great to see him in good shape, relaxed, and eager to get back to pushing hard." – the Ferrari team boss pointed out.
"From a technical perspective, the drivers completed their laps in less-than-ideal weather conditions (Charles Leclerc drove entirely on wet tires, editor’s note), but they started to get back into rhythm and reacquaint themselves with the track environment ahead of the first proper test, which will take place in a month in Bahrain. It was also a useful warm-up for the entire team, which was, in fact, the only real goal of the day." – the Ferrari team principal concluded.
