Someone in Ferrari has referred to Lewis Hamilton as “the messiah,” as if to say that the team is already on his side. This is what Italian journalist and Formula 1 expert Pino Allievi claims in his “Gas a tavoletta” column in the Autosprint magazine.
Charles Leclerc was prematurely labeled “the chosen one.” Now, some say that within Ferrari, someone has already referred to Lewis Hamilton as “the messiah.” Pino Allievi wrote this in an article titled “Inside the Red Derbies” in issue 5 of Autosprint magazine.
The journalist, formerly with Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, revisited the history of famous Ferrari driver pairings from the past before discussing the internal rivalry within Ferrari between Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Pino Allievi refers to the British driver as a true “brand,” who arrived in Maranello with a team of managers and various collaborators, aiming to win his eighth world title and reaffirm his status as the greatest of all time.
According to Pino Allievi, who published a few books on F1, such as Benetton Formula 1: A Story; Ferrari; Gilles Villeneuve: la vita di un pilota leggendario, someone in Ferrari has already called Hamilton “the messiah,” implying that the team is already leaning in his direction. This is obviously linked to the “difficult” position of Charles Leclerc.
In his further analysis in Autosprint, the journalist writes: “The fact that someone has said ‘Hamilton's arrival is good for Leclerc because it will make him grow’ is something Charles may not have appreciated. While Lewis Hamilton has already won a lot, Charles Leclerc needs to beat the new teammate to defend his reputation at Ferrari and in Formula 1. A defeat — Pino Allievi literally concluded — would push him into the ranks of the eternal second-place finishers.”
