Red Dream
The anticipation for Lewis Hamilton's first Grand Prix as a Ferrari driver is at fever pitch. On March 16 in Australia, a new chapter in motorsport history will begin, aiming to break a series of records. The British driver chose Ferrari for its allure but also because he believes Maranello offers the best chance to secure that elusive eighth World Championship title, which would make him the all-time leader in titles won, finally breaking the tie with Michael Schumacher.

The Legend of Jim Clark
There is also the desire to end Ferrari's long drought—though not yet a record, it is dangerously close—as 2025 marks 18 consecutive years without a Drivers' World Championship for the Scuderia. Delving into F1's endless statistics, another historic record stands out, one that Hamilton could target during his at least two-year stint at Ferrari: the Grand Chelem record, still held by the legendary Jim Clark.

Clark's eighth and final Grand Chelem came at the 1965 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. Hamilton currently ranks second in this special classification with six, but he has not achieved a single Grand Chelem since the end of the 2019 season. A Grand Chelem consists of a race weekend in which a driver secures pole position, wins the race, leads every lap, and sets the fastest lap—in essence, the perfect weekend.

Max Verstappen close behind
Behind Lewis Hamilton, tied in third place, are Alberto Ascari, Michael Schumacher, and Max Verstappen, all with five Grand Chelems. Notably, since F1 introduced its latest technical regulations in 2022, only one driver besides Verstappen has managed to achieve a Grand Chelem: Charles Leclerc, who accomplished it during his dominant 2022 Australian Grand Prix victory.

Ferrari could be the right team for Lewis Hamilton to chase this legendary record—one of the longest-standing in F1 and all of motorsport.
