Lewis Hamilton crashes in Barcelona: Ferrari SF-23 car suffers damage

Lewis Hamilton crashed on the second day of the closed-door tests in Barcelona. The seven-time world champion, driving the SF-23 during the morning session, reportedly lost control of the car around 11 a.m. in the final section of the Montmelo circuit and crashed into the barriers.
Trackside medical teams were immediately deployed, and the driver was able to exit the car completely unscathed, but the car sustained considerable damage to the suspension and some aerodynamic components. Ferrari technicians, led by Matteo Togninalli, are evaluating the damage after the car was transported back to the pits by a tow truck.
The team, led on track by deputy team principal Jerome D’Ambrosio, is analyzing the telemetry to understand what may have caused the incident. Of course, the planned program has been disrupted: Charles Leclerc was supposed to drive the SF-23 in the afternoon after adjusting the car to his preferences (seat change, pedal box, steering wheel-computer, and other parameters), but the return to track will be significantly delayed as repairs are expected to take several hours.
