Spanish trip
Ferrari’s pre-season has kicked into gear. This is emphasized by the official social media account of the Prancing Horse, which accompanied a brief video with images of the first day of private testing completed today in Barcelona.
After the initial session on the home track in Fiorano, the Italian team moved to Spain, to the Circuit de Catalunya, for three days of testing in which Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will have the SF-23 at their disposal, the car used by the team two seasons ago, in 2023.
The ‘dream team’ in action
As explained in this insightful analysis regarding the Italian side’s preparations, there are many reasons that led the team in red to take advantage of all the slots allowed by regulations for TPCs (tests with cars at least two years old) even before the season officially begins. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton alternated at the wheel, completing the first of the three days of work with the traditional briefing with the engineers.
Certainly, it made an impression to see Lewis Hamilton at the pit wall observing the laps of his new teammate. But these are images to get used to: the Ferrari dream team has started operating at full capacity, and we have entered – as the Maranello team likes to say on its official channels – the ‘1644 era.’ However, this is just training. The real assessments will begin in March with the first GPs and the challenge against rival teams, especially McLaren, Red Bull, and, of course, Mercedes, now left without Lewis Hamilton.
