The response came in a lengthy interview by Sean Gregory of Time. The Briton remains stoic in the face of criticism about his age: "Never compare me to anyone else. I am the first and only black driver to ever participate in this sport. I'm different. I've been through a lot. I've had my own journey."
"You cannot compare me to any other 40-year-old Formula 1 driver, past or present, in history. Because I am nothing like them. I am hungry, motivated, I don't have a wife or children. I'm focused on one thing: winning. That's my number one priority." – the Ferrari driver pointed out.
"I've always welcomed negativity," Lewis Hamilton continues. "I've never responded to any of the old white men who have commented on my career and what they think I should do. The way you present yourself, how you behave, and your performances slowly dissipate those statements." – he concluded.
