Summary of updates brought by all teams in 2024 ahead of F1 Las Vegas GP

October was a highly active month regarding updates, with nearly all cars featuring substantial upgrades, particularly at the Austin race. For the most part, development is now considered complete, with only minor adjustments for specific tracks or experimental components for 2025 expected during the next triple-header. McLaren stands out in the final tally, achieving remarkable growth throughout the season without missteps, even with its latest October package.
The overview
In Austin, nearly all teams introduced significant updates. Red Bull continued its floor evolution started in Baku, which seems to address some of the RB20's handling quirks. McLaren opted to stagger its package, renewing its front wing and suspension arms in Texas, introducing a new floor during the less hectic Mexico weekend, and finishing with a medium-downforce rear wing in Brazil. Mercedes also brought numerous updates, effectively increasing downforce and aerodynamic efficiency, though failing to resolve its chronic weakness in low-speed corners.
Ferrari took a different approach, with no new aerodynamic geometries last month. The front wing initially planned for Austin had already been introduced in Singapore. However, Vasseur emphasized that teams are required to declare only external changes, suggesting that Ferrari may have fitted a differently constructed, more flexible front wing starting in Texas. The Team Principal initially hinted at further updates in Qatar but later contradicted himself after the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Further back, the back-and-forth development race between Haas and Racing Bulls continued, with both teams introducing upgrades in Austin. Alpine resumed updates as well, after six months without changes to its floor before Texas. Sauber was also active, modifying suspension attachment points in Brazil.
