The voting for Driver of the Year has already been done seven times, including this year, and Verstappen has won four times in a row. For 2024, drivers on the grid were once again asked to evaluate their rivals and rank the top 10 for this F1 season.

In this voting, drivers can choose to vote for themselves, but many did not. Of course, the individual votes of each driver remain secret, but based on the results, the top 10 drivers of 2024 were ranked.

The points for the positions followed the current F1 points system. The driver at the top received 25 points, the second received 18, the third got 15, and the fourth earned 12. The fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth positions received 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, and 1 point, respectively. The total points from each list were summed up to create the final ranking.

The drivers who participated in the voting were: Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso, Valtteri Bottas, Franco Colapinto, Pierre Gasly, Nico Hulkenberg, Liam Lawson, Charles Leclerc, Kevin Magnussen, Lando Norris, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, George Russell, Carlos Sainz, Lance Stroll, Yuki Tsunoda, and Zhou Guanyu.

The top 10 drivers
Max Verstappen won the survey with eight drivers placing him at the top of their lists. All participants included him in the top 4.

Second place goes to Lando Norris. The McLaren driver was voted number two by his fellow drivers after his best season in F1 so far, with four wins, including his first-ever victory in the category. The British driver moved up two positions compared to 2023.

Third place went to Ferrari's driver number 16, Charles Leclerc – also rising by two places compared to the previous season. The podium of the ranking mirrors the official drivers’ championship standings.

Last year, George Russell failed to make the list, but in 2024, he improved in the eyes of his colleagues. He entered the ranking this year in fourth place.

Oscar Piastri, like his teammate, earned his first F1 wins this year and occupies the fifth spot in the ranking – gaining three positions compared to his rookie season.

Carlos Sainz, in his last year at Ferrari, is once again in sixth place. For the first time in his career, in 2024, the Spaniard won more than one race in a single season and finished the year with his highest-ever score.

Pierre Gasly secured a surprising seventh place – two positions higher than last year. His position is due to a strong end to the season, with four points finishes in the last five GPs for the French driver.

Another new entry is Nico Hulkenberg in eighth place. The Haas driver had a consistent season, earning 10 points finishes. Fernando Alonso dropped six positions, finishing in ninth place, and Lewis Hamilton completed the top 10, falling eight spots compared to 2023.

Yuki Tsunoda received votes from nine of his rivals and narrowly missed out on the top 10 this season.
