Even though the 2024 F1 season has not yet given any of its verdicts, some are already thinking about 2025 and the winter tests that will take place in Bahrain before the debut in Australia. The curiosity likely stems from wanting to see Lewis Hamilton in his first season with Ferrari, as well as Kimi Antonelli with Mercedes in his F1 debut season. Indeed, there will be many new features next year.

The driver lineup will be very different from the current one, and fans of the top category are already excited for the next year, even though the current season is still wide open. The first changes will therefore be seen in the usual pre-season tests.

Formula 1 has already announced the dates for the 2025 testing sessions: they will be held from February 26 to 28 once again at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain. In recent years, the tests have taken place at the Manama circuit, where the first race of the season was also held.

For 2025, however, the calendar includes the inaugural race in Melbourne. Nevertheless, the tests will be held in Bahrain due to the impossibility of holding them at the same circuit as the inaugural race. Formula 1 officials have discussed the possibility of using the Barcelona circuit for the tests, which will likely be used for 2026.

For 2025, the choice was still Bahrain for two main reasons. The first is the mild climate, which eliminates the possibility of having to cancel tests due to weather reasons. The second is the track layout, which reduces the risk of damage from off-track excursions.

In short, it is definitely a costly choice, but one that has satisfied all teams and stakeholders.
