After a difficult series of preseason tests Iker Lecuona has struggled to be productive ahead of the 2025 season.

Team HRC has been hit with a tricky preseason after Iker Lecuona missed the majority of testing with injuries. Mixed with the terrible conditions in Jerez and Portimao, Honda has had a terrible time.

At the end of the 2024 World Superbike season Lecuona fractured his foot, which left him on the sidelines in Jerez. However, over preseason the Spaniard cracked his ribs and suffered minor contusions in a training crash.

Lecuona missed the first test in 2025 at Jerez due to his injuries, but he attempted a return in Portimao. The 25-year-old did not complete many laps due to the track conditions and his physical conditions. Because of his lack of productive testing and feedback for his team, he was very 'pissed off' at the end of the tests in Europe.

"About the foot, it felt good, but I could feel some pain from the first lap," Lecuona told WorldSBK.com. "But also because it was cold, but is fine. About my ribs, I had zero problems, and with my shoulder, I have more problems.

"I feel very tight and very painful along my back muscles from my shoulder. It is a muscle that I need to use a lot during the left corners, going right it feels quite good. In the end, I did about 10 laps today and I rode with a lot of pain. But I am relaxed because it is just the muscles and it is not the bones, so it gives me a chance to be 100% ready in Australia.

"I am quite pissed off and frustrated that I cannot work properly, some corners I can push more and it feels good with this new bike. But I am too far away to say something.

"A target for me, other than to lose the pain, is at the start on the grid, I always lose a lot of positions. We did 12 exits today to try different settings on electronics and the clutch to try to understand what happens."
