Petronas MIE Racing Honda and Tarran Mackenzie continue their 2025 World Superbike Championship preparations.

A lot has been said ahead of Tarran Mackenzie's second year in the World Superbike Championship. However, could the 2025 season be a breakthrough year for the former British Superbike Champion?

The 2024 season was a right off for Mackenzie and the Petronas MIE Racing Honda Team as they struggled throughout the whole season. It seems that the 2025 preseason has not gone much better for the 29-year-old.

At the Portimao Test Mackenzie ended the opening day in 22nd place after half a day of dry track time. During the day he set a 1:43.961, which was 3.111 seconds slower than Toprak Razgatlioglu's best time.

Mackenzie then did not participate in the second day of the Portimao Test due to the weather. Despite his lap time, the Honda rider believes he is now 'more comfortable' on his CBR1000RR-R.

"We didn't ride today [Wednesday] in the end, but we got a lot done on Tuesday at least," Mackenzie stated after the Portimao Test.

"We had a few issues to work out, but we worked hard and were able to find a good direction towards the end of the day that allowed me to feel a lot more comfortable.

"The idea was to roll out with that bike again this morning and continue to take steps, but the rain thwarted that plan. We had four days of testing planned between here and Jerez, but the weather has meant we've only really had two useful days, which is a little frustrating.

"Hopefully we can use the Phillip Island tests to find better feeling and get more comfortable ahead of the first race weekend."
