'Should he come to Honda, he'll be strong' - Iker Lecuona discusses the rumours placing Toprak Razgatlioglu at Honda

Iker Lecuona believes Toprak Razgatlioglu would be successful at Honda should he decide to join the Japanese manufacturer.
Recent rumours in the World Superbike paddock suggest that Toprak Razgatlioglu could be on his way to Team HRC.
The Turkish rider's contract with BMW expires at the conclusion of the 2025 season, and he could switch to the Japanese manufacturer if a MotoGP option was in his future.
No deal has been made between Razgatlioglu and Honda, but talks have supposedly intensified. After the Portimao World Superbike Round, current Honda rider Iker Lecuona talked about the potential of becoming Razgatlioglu's teammate.
"People always talk a lot and personally market talk does not interest me," Lecuona told GPOne.
"If there is nothing official I'm not interested, let alone thinking about it. Obviously, if Toprak were to come it is good because it would allow us to improve and grow."
Lecuona went on to compare Razgatlioglu's potential move to Alvaro Bautista's switch from Ducati to Honda in 2020.
Although Bautista failed at Honda, Lecuona believes Razgatlioglu would succeed if he made the switch due to Honda's recent progress.
"In 2019 Bautista was the fastest rider with the Ducati, but in 2020 the Honda was not a bike at the level of the current one, as it was very difficult," he stated.
"Certainly the CBR has grown in recent years; in fact, there have been steps forward, getting first to the top ten and then to podiums.
"Toprak? As I said, until there is something official, I'm not thinking about it. For sure, should he come to Honda, I imagine he'll be strong because he is a Champion and has won two titles with Yamaha and BMW.
"How strong? That we will only find out the moment he gets on our bike. It's the same as Toprak with BMW: did we see the real potential only the moment he got on it?"
