Ducati did not give Alvaro Bautista any new parts to test at the Jerez Test as he only completed one day of testing.

Alvaro Bautista will be a man on a mission during the 2025 World Superbike season.

The Spaniard lost the 2024 World Superbike title to Toprak Razgatlioglu and BMW. After winning the title in 2022 and 2023 Bautista was used to dominating the class, but last season was not an easy year.

At the Jerez Test last week the former World Champion only rode during one of the two days. Bautista spent his one-day test trying to regain his feeling on his Ducati Panigale V4 R.

"It has been two difficult days, especially yesterday [Wednesday] we were lucky that it did not rain," Bautista told WorldSBK.com.

"But it was too windy at the end, I did not feel too comfortable riding in those conditions. But it was dry so we could at least make some of our first kilometres of the preseason.

"We had to recover the feeling after not riding these bikes for three months. It was positive to be back riding again, but for sure it was not the best conditions.

"Today [Thursday] in the rain we did not want to throw away a day of testing because we do not have a lot during the season. There was no need to ride in the wet conditions, we need to make a better setup and find a good setup for the dry. It was not the best way to start the preseason but it could have been worse."

Despite a drop-off in performance during the 2024 season, Bautista revealed that he did not test any new parts during the Jerez Test.

"We did not use any new items for the Ducati," Bautista explained.

"Ducati have worked a lot during the winter but not for some items just with the base we have to try to improve a little bit in some areas.

"We continued the work that we started in November, we changed all the bike with a new setup to try to find another way to go fast. We need to find a step forward from 2024 and we need to find a new way to work.

"We continued this work and we did not touch much, with the conditions it was hard to understand if anything was better or not. We just made some kilometres to try to adapt the body, the feeling and the mind because after three months you need to start again. It was a good first day for a shakedown and not make any mistakes."
