MATTERLEY BASIN (Gran Bretagna) 4 ottobre 2024 – Il Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations Media Day 2024 a Matterley Basin ha creato aspettative con la conferenza stampa dei team nel Media Centre, seguita dal crescendo della presentazione dei team di fronte a una folla enorme di fan che si sono assicurati che i team sapessero di essere al loro fianco!

La conferenza stampa dei team ha dato ai team migliori la possibilità di dichiarare le proprie aspettative per il weekend a venire e di esprimere la propria gratitudine per essere stati in grado di rappresentare i propri paesi. La formazione includeva i team più forti come Team France, Team Australia, Team USA, Team Spain, Team Germany, Team Italy, Team Belgium, Team Switzerland , Team Netherlands e infine la squadra di casa del Team Great Britain .

I campioni in carica, il Team France, correranno con le targhe #1, #2 e #3 questo weekend, e hanno mantenuto la formazione vincente dell’anno scorso. Anche le macchine di Romain Febvre, Tom Vialle e Maxime Renaux correranno con le targhe rosse, e molti dei loro fan appassionati, già in costume e con il viso dipinto, hanno attraversato la Manica per far sentire il loro sostegno a tutto volume!

Il team manager Gautier Paulin: “I tre piloti collaborano benissimo, si conoscono, hanno un bel ricordo insieme dell’anno scorso, quindi finora è stata una settimana fantastica”.

I secondi classificati dell’anno scorso , il Team Australia, hanno fatto un cambio tattico tardivo per il weekend, inserendo Hunter Lawrence nella categoria MXGP e Jett Lawrence nella classe MX Open, il che significa che gareggerà con alcuni degli altri principali contendenti solo nell’ultima gara della giornata. È una mossa interessante, dato che cercano di ottenere la loro prima vittoria in assoluto in MXoN, e molti in verde e oro hanno fatto il grande viaggio per supportare i loro ragazzi!

Il Team Manager Michael Byrne: “Questi ragazzi vogliono vincere a tutti i costi. Sono abituati a vincere, hanno tutti avuto una stagione grandiosa. Tutti e tre hanno vinto campionati in passato, sono tutti in salute, ma non si sa mai in questa gara, può succedere di tutto”.

Il Team Germany torna con il vincitore individuale dell’MXGP dello scorso anno e superstar mondiale Ken Roczen, oltre a Simon Laengenfelder e il veterano Max Nagl, tutti impegnati a migliorare la quarta posizione dello scorso anno per salire sul podio generale.

Ken Roczen: “Dopo così tanto tempo lontano da lì, l’anno scorso mi è sembrato di essere di nuovo al Nazioni! Tornando a Matterley Basin, questa è la mia pista preferita da molto tempo. Certo, di non esserci stato dal 2011, è passato molto tempo, ma penso che questa pista faccia proprio al caso mio, quindi è stato un gioco da ragazzi per me venire e gareggiare”.

La nazione di maggior successo nella storia dell’MXoN, il Team USA, è ottimista sulle proprie possibilità di vincere di nuovo nonostante alcuni cambiamenti dell’ultimo minuto dovuti a infortuni, con la formazione finale composta da Eli Tomac, Cooper Webb e Aaron Plessinger che cerca di migliorare l’ottava posizione ottenuta a Ernee la scorsa stagione, e i piloti sono rimasti subito colpiti dal circuito di Matterley Basin.

Il capitano della squadra Eli Tomac: ” Abbiamo appena finito di percorrere la pista e sembra che abbia un buon flusso, la prima curva sembra bella, è molto profonda, forse la più profonda che abbiamo mai percorso qui, ma sì, siamo pronti e sembra bella! Un podio va bene, ma vincere è tutto ciò che conta. Non torni a casa davvero felice se non vinci”.

Con il nuovo doppio campione del mondo MXGP Jorge Prado tra le sue fila, il Team Spagna arriverà con grande sicurezza per ottenere un grande risultato, soprattutto dopo aver pescato una forte quarta scelta per le gare di qualificazione . Ruben Fernandez e Oriol Oliver si uniranno ancora una volta al campione per provare a salire sul loro primo podio MXoN.

Capitano della squadra Jorge Prado : “Sono sempre felice di rappresentare la Spagna, spinge molte persone a venire all’evento, e la pista è bella, con salti più grandi di quelli che abbiamo di solito in MXGP, quindi cerchiamo di goderci la pista. Il mio lavoro è finito per la stagione, è bello guidare senza pressione e godersi la guida. Mi sento molto più rilassato, per un paio di mesi è stato difficile dormire perché ero preoccupato per il titolo. Ho avuto una bella settimana, semplicemente godendomi la vita, e ora siamo qui per fare del nostro meglio per la squadra spagnola, goderci il weekend e speriamo di avere un grande Motocross delle Nazioni”.

Il Team Great Britain ha chiuso la conferenza stampa e tutti e tre i corridori speravano di ripetere il podio del 2017, con Max Anstie tornato sul circuito dove aveva vinto quell’evento, affiancato da Tommy Searle e Conrad Mewse.

Il team manager Mark Chamberlain: “Per quanto riguarda la selezione, devo scegliere in base alla forma attuale quando si arriva a questo livello, e per me questi tre sono stati i ragazzi migliori per fare il lavoro questo fine settimana”.

Poi è arrivato il momento di presentare i 36 team che parteciperanno alla battaglia per il Chamberlain Trophy questo fine settimana. Ogni paese ha presentato con orgoglio il proprio trio di piloti che porterà la propria bandiera al Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations del 2024. I piloti hanno intrapreso un piccolo tour dal cancelletto di partenza, ogni team sul retro di un Truck , di fronte a una folla chiassosa che ha appena iniziato a godersi la festa lunga un fine settimana che è il Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations!

Urla, clacson, sirene e motoseghe senza lama hanno accolto ogni squadra, e il volume è aumentato mentre i giocatori principali del Team Spagna, Team Italia, Team Germania e Team USA si sono fatti strada davanti alla folla! Il Team Australia, il Team Francia e infine la squadra di casa hanno ricevuto un’enorme risposta dai tifosi patriottici britannici. Ogni squadra sa quanto i propri tifosi la sosterranno mentre la febbre delle nazioni attanaglia i pendii del Matterley Basin!

MATTERLEY BASIN (Great Britain) 4 October 2024 – The 2024 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations Media Day at Matterley Basin built the expectation with the Teams Press Conference in the Media Centre, followed by the crescendo of the Teams Presentation in front of a massive crowd of fans who made sure the teams knew they were behind them!

The Teams Press Conference gave the top teams a chance to state their expectations for the weekend ahead and express their gratitude for being able to represent their countries. The line-up included the strongest teams such as  Team France, Team Australia, Team USA, Team Spain, Team Germany, Team Italy, Team Belgium, Team Switzerland, Team Netherlands, and finally the home squad of Team Great Britain.

Defending Champions Team France will run the #1, #2 and #3 plates this weekend, and have kept their winning line-up from last year. The machines of Romain Febvre, Tom Vialle, and Maxime Renaux will also run the red plates, and many of their passionate fans, already in fancy dress and face paint, have crossed the English Channel to make their support known at maximum volume!

Team Manager Gautier Paulin: "The three riders co-operate super-well, they know each other, they have a nice memory together from last year, so it's been a great week so far."

Last year's runners-up Team Australia have made a late tactical switch for the weekend, putting Hunter Lawrence into the MXGP category, and Jett Lawrence in the MX Open class, meaning that he will race some of the other leading contenders in just the final race of the day.  It's an interesting move as they attempt to grab their first ever MXoN victory, and many in the green and gold have made the massive journey to support their boys!

Team Manager Michael Byrne: "These boys want to win bad. They're used to winning, they've all had a great season. All three of them have won Championships before, everybody's healthy, but you never know at this race, anything can happen."

Team Germany return with last year's individual MXGP winner and global superstar Ken Roczen, as well as Simon Laengenfelder and the veteran Max Nagl, all trying to improve on last year's fourth position to get onto the overall podium.

Ken Roczen: "After so long away from it, last year felt like my first time at the Nations again! Coming back to Matterley Basin, this has been my favourite track for a really long time. Granted, I haven't been here since 2011, it's been a really long time, but I think this track is right up my alley, so it was a no-brainer for me to come out and race."

The most successful nation in the history of the MXoN, Team USA, are optimistic about their chances to win again despite some last-minute changes due to injury, with the final line-up of Eli Tomac, Cooper Webb, and Aaron Plessinger trying to improve from their eighth position from Ernee last season, and the riders were instantly impressed by the Matterley Basin circuit.

Team Captain Eli Tomac: "We just finished walking the track, and it looks like it has a good flow to it, the first turn looks nice, it's very deep, like maybe the deepest we've ever run here, but yeah we're ready, and it looks nice! A podium is OK, but winning is all that matters. You don't go home really happy unless you win."

With the new double MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado in their ranks, Team Spain will come with high confidence to make a great result, especially after drawing a strong fourth gate pick for the RAM Qualifying Races. Ruben Fernandez and Oriol Oliver will once more join the Champ to try and climb their first ever MXoN podium.

Team Captain Jorge Prado: "I'm always happy to represent Spain, it moves a lot of people to come to the event, and the track is nice, bigger jumps than we usually have in MXGP, so we try to enjoy the track. My job is done for the season, it's nice to ride with no pressure and enjoy the riding.  I feel way more relaxed, for like a few months it's been difficult to sleep because I've been worried about the title. I've had a great week, just enjoying life, and now we are here to do our best for the Spanish team, enjoy the weekend, and hopefully we have a great Motocross of Nations."            

Team Great Britain closed the Press Conference, and all three riders were hopeful of repeating their 2017 podium finish, with Max Anstie back to the circuit where he took the win in that event, joined by Tommy Searle and Conrad Mewse. 

Team Manager Mark Chamberlain: "For me with selection, I have to pick on current form when it gets to this level, and for me these three were the best guys to do the job this weekend."

Then came the moment to introduce the 36 teams participating in the battle for the Chamberlain Trophy this weekend. Each country proudly presented their trio of riders who will carry their flag at the 2024 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations. The riders embarked on a small tour by the starting gate, each team on the back of a RAM Truck, in front of a boisterous crowd who have only just begun to enjoy the weekend-long party that is the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations!

Cheers, horns, hooters, and bladeless chainsaws greeted each team, and the volume increased as the major players of Team Spain, Team Italy, Team Germany, and Team USA made their way out in front of the crowd! Team Australia, Team France, and finally the home squad received a huge response from the patriotic British fans. Every team knows how much their fans will be behind them as Nations fever grips the slopes of Matterley Basin!
