Kay de Wolf from Nestaan Husqvarna will compete in his first race of the 2025 season this Sunday (February 23) in Lierop. The reigning world champion in the MX2 class has won the Dutch MX Season Opener both times in previous years and is of course the favorite again this year.
De Wolf will face a large group of riders who will be evenly matched. Marc Antoine Rossi from the Red Bull KTM Factory team confirmed his participation in the MX2 class last week. Rossi is one of the young talents who could surprise in the World Championship this year.
In addition, we have David Braceras from the JM Racing Honda team. Another Dutch MX2 star starting the season in Lierop is Kay Karssemakers. Cas Valk, who finished third in last year’s EMX250 Championship, is making the move to the MX2 World Championship this year. He will race for Van Venrooy KTM Racing and will compete in his first race on Dutch soil in Lierop.
Gyan Doensen will also be there. After a successful period in the 125cc class, he has moved to the 250cc class and, like Valk, will make his debut in the Netherlands at Lierop. Alongside Doensen, his teammate from the Gabriel SS24 KTM team, Max Werner, will also line up in Lierop.
Bradley Mesters showed impressive results last year, finishing strong in third place last weekend at Hawkstone Park. He is currently undergoing an intensive preparation program under the guidance of former Grand Prix winner in Lierop, Marc de Reuver. He will also be competing in Lierop, as well as Nicolas Vennekens, Sander Agard Michelsen, Scott Smulders, and Quentin Prugnieres from WZ Racing.
There will also be a strong group of national riders looking to start their season well in Lierop, including Roan Tolsma, Greg van der Weide, Mirco ten Kate, Danny van den Bosse, and many others.
