After 25 years, the president of Team Penske is stepping back

Tim Cindric served as the president of Team Penske. Today, he’s announced that he will step back from day-to-day operations of the team.

However, Tim will remain the president of Team Penske's INDYCAR efforts. Ron Ruzewski will still hold the role of Managing Director for the Indycar effort.

Michael Nelson will also remain as President of Team Penske's NASCAR Program. Jonathan Diuguid still holds the role of Managing Director of Porsche Penske Motorsport.

Nelson and Diuguid now report directly to Roger Penske.

Tim Cindric comments

"I have lived my dream job for the past 25 years as the overall leader of the Penske Racing organization,” Tim Cindric stated via a release from Team Penske.

“I've had the opportunity to work with some of the best people in the business while achieving many milestones together. I've decided I need to make a change that provides me with the flexibility I need at this stage of my career.”

He added, “I appreciate the understanding Roger has provided throughout our conversations and I'm confident this team will continue to succeed as we have a proven leadership team in all areas."

Team Penske is the defending champions in the NASCAR Cup Series as Joey Logano claimed his third championship in 2024.

The 2025 NASCAR season begins this weekend. Bowman Gray is set to host The Clash, an exhibition race for the NASCAR Cup Series.
